Roman Crumbs (Syrup-Soaked Traditional Treat)

🔹 Step 1: Prepare the Batter

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. In another bowl, mix eggs, milk, oil (or butter), and vanilla.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients gently.
  5. Fold in raisins or nuts if using.

🔹 Step 2: Bake the Cakes

  1. Grease muffin tins or small molds.
  2. Fill each about ¾ full.
  3. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Remove and let cool slightly.

🔹 Step 3: Make the Syrup

  1. In a saucepan, combine water and sugar.
  2. Bring to a gentle boil.
  3. Add vanilla and chosen flavoring.
  4. Simmer 5–7 minutes, then remove from heat.

🔹 Step 4: Soak & Serve

  1. Place warm cakes into a deep serving bowl.
  2. Pour hot syrup over them until partially submerged.
  3. Let sit 5–10 minutes so they absorb the syrup.
  4. Serve warm with extra syrup in the bowl (just like in your image).
